About the area - The Skiing
Our apartments are located in Tignes (2100 metres) part of the Espace Killy ski area which we consider the best in France. The Espace Killy links Tignes and Val d'Isere together and has over 300 kilometres of marked piste in a skiable area of 10,000 hectares. The maximum altitude is 3450 metres on La Grande Motte glacier where there is all season skiing from October through to June. It also opens up in August too!! You can always find good skiing in Tignes. The lift system has been renewed over the last 5 years and has many state of the art chairlifts seating 8 people at a time thus eliminating queues even in peak periods.
Tignes is divided into 3 villages, le Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Lavachet. All villages are linked by the free ski bus and all villages are ski in and ski out. Our village, Le Lavachet offers a supermarket, several bars and good restaurants. There are 2 modern 6 seater lifts to whisk you up to the slopes and you can ski right back to residence car park!!

Whilst it is an ideal area for intermediates and advanced skiers with 35 red and 16 black pistes and endless off piste, beginners are well catered for as the nursery slopes are right in the centre of the village of Le Lac making the beginners feel part of the ski scene from Day 1. There are also 20 green and 60 blue pistes.

Snowboarders are well catered for, Tignes has 2 snow parks and regularly holds the World Cup Snowboarding Championships every November on the glacier.
